Synopsis:
Claude Lelouch adapts Victor Hugo's classic novel to the early 20th century following orphaned Henri Fortin (Jean-Paul Belmondo) from pre-WWII destitution through the Occupation and Resistance, as he traces the parallels between his own life and the life of Jean Valjean.
