Synopsis:
Reverend John Smallwood (Peter Sellers), a socialistic and caring chaplain, is accidentally assigned to a wealthy parish where his ideas around charity and redistribution are less than welcome. As Smallwood implements policies that benefit the poorest people in the area, the wealthy factory owners and local merchants lead a revolt against him, despite their supposed Christian ideals.
